Technical Background
The slurry bed residue oil hydrotreater has a large amount of tail oil discharged, approximately 10% of the feedstock. This tail oil contains not only asphalt, residual carbon, but also heavy metals such as Ni and V present in the residue oil, as well as Mo from the catalyst. Direct discharge would cause both resource waste and significant environmental pollution. According to the requirements of the circular economy development of "harmlessness, reduction, and resource utilization," improving the utilization rate of existing resources in our country and making full use of these resources to turn waste into treasure is crucial. The recovery and utilization of oil and the extraction and harmless treatment of rare and precious metals from spent metal catalysts have become particularly urgent and important. 。

Technical Advantages
- Gasification Hydrogen Production
Approximately 60% of the discharged tail oil can be returned to the slurry bed hydrotreater for further refining after desolidification. The remaining metal-containing waste tail oil then enters the gasification hydrogen production unit to produce hydrogen, while also producing by-product super high-pressure saturated steam. Gasification hydrogen production not only effectively treats the discharged tail oil, but also replenishes the raw material hydrogen for the upstream slurry bed hydrotreater, achieving efficient material utilization.

- Metal Slag Resource Utilization
After gasification hydrogen production, the discharged tail oil enters a multiple-hearth furnace for high-temperature calcination. The resulting metal slag is processed through reaction leaching, impurity removal filtration, concentration, pH adjustment, precipitation separation, washing, drying, and calcination to produce products such as V2O5, molybdic acid, and Ni-rich filter residue. This not only completes the harmless treatment of the metal slag, a hazardous waste, but also obtains high-value-added products. The molybdic acid can even be reused in the slurry bed hydrotreater as a raw material for molybdenum isooctanoate catalyst.

The resource utilization and comprehensive utilization of slurry bed residue oil hydrotreater discharged tail oil not only recycles a large amount of waste oil, but also harmlessly treats the catalyst and extracts rare precious metals from the catalyst.
